Rifles End Nakamura Streak Wednesday, July 26th , 2079 It was a doubly miserable day for Kazuhide Nakamura of the East Lansing Mighty Gulls, as he saw his 20-game hitting streak end and his team lose, 4-1, to the Murfreesboro Rifles at Mighty Gulls Ballpark. The 21-year-old second baseman was held hitless in 1 at-bat by the Rifles. "Anyone on a 20-game hitting streak is going to be a tough out," Murfreesboro manager said later. "But we had a plan and we were careful about it, and got it done." This season, Nakamura has banged out 84 hits in 309 at-bats for a .272 average with 18 home runs. He is getting on base at a .341 pace and his totals also include 37 RBIs and 46 runs scored. |
