Great Day for O'Neill -- 5 Hits Friday, June 25th , 2083 It was a sensational day at the plate for Baton Rouge Grapplers left fielder John O'Neill, but a tough one for the team, as the Grapplers dropped the contest, 9-8, to the Aguascalientes Abejas. Even with the loss, O'Neill was pure misery for the Aguascalientes pitching staff. He left them shell-shocked after going 5-for-8 in an explosive display of hitting. "It's always good to get a bunch of hits in a game, but you also want to win," said O'Neill, who is the 19-year old left fielder . "O'Neill really hit the ball hard and when you do that, you've got a good chance to do some damage," Abejas manager told BNN reporters after the game. "I feel like we threw him some good pitches, but he just put some good swings on the ball." John O'Neill hit a two-run single in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, struck out in the 4th, flied out in the 7th, singled in the 9th, singled in the 10th, flied out in the 12th and singled in the 14th. O'Neill is hitting .333 this year with 3 home runs and 10 RBIs. He also has an OBP of .373, 2 walks and scored 10 times. View Boxscore |
