Thursday, June 24th , 2083
Geneva catcher Eppe Brand had a big day at Royals Ballpark against the Hillsboro Ensigns. The 22-year-old, who is not typically considered a big threat with the bat, went 5-for-6 and led to the 20-2 Greens triumph over Hillsboro.
"Hey, I'm as surprised as you guys are," Brand said in his postgame comments, smiling as he scolded the press corps for underestimating him. "Maybe I'm not so bad at the plate after all."
Eppe Brand hit a two-run home run off Matt Weathers in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, flied out in the 5th, singled in the 7th, hit a two-run home run off Willie Quiros in the 8th and hit a two-run home run off Luis Maestas in the 8th.
So far this season, Brand is batting .369 with 14 home runs, 38 RBIs and 36 runs scored. He has 73 hits in 198 at-bats, 28 walks and a .448 OBP. Brand has played in 62 games.
