5-Hit Game for Burks
Tuesday, May 25th , 2083
Even as a kid, Chris Burks said his coaches told him the key to hitting was making contact, and letting everything else flow from there. At Abejas Ballpark, Burks showed how well he learned that lesson.
The 23-year-old right fielder had 5 hits in 5 at-bats for the Geneva Greens, helping his team knock off the Aguascalientes Abejas by a score of 11-5.
"They always said, just keep your eye on the ball, don't overswing, make contact and you never know what will happen," he said. "That's all I did."
Chris Burks hit an RBI single in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Victor Estrada in the 4th, hit a two-run double in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
This season, Burks is swinging the bat at a .344 pace. He has hit 7 home runs and scored 19 times, while driving in 24. His on-base percentage is .400 and he has played in 40 games.
