Hit Parade: Lei Pops 5 Hits Wednesday, July 8th , 2076 The Salton City Naturals downed the Reno Mountaineers 7-5 today at Mountaineers Ballpark, in spite of the best efforts of Reno first baseman Guo-feng Lei. Lei lashed the ball all over the park in a 5-hit explosion, finishing with a 5-for-5 line -- and a loss. "I don't remember a better day batting, but it sure is disappointing to lose the game," he said to BNN reporters in the postgame interview. "A win would have made the day much sweeter." Asked if he would adjust his strategy next time the Naturals face Lei, Salton City manager said "absolutely not." "Our strategy was to not give him good pitches to hit," he said. "We didn't do that, and he worked us over. Thankfully, we won anyway, and next time we'll pitch to him better." Guo-feng Lei singled in the 2nd, doubled in the 4th, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off Jeremy Zimmerman in the 9th. For the year Lei has hit .283 with 13 home runs, 47 RBIs and scored 54 runs. View Boxscore |
