van der Heide Raps 3 HR Against Bulldogs Friday, July 28th , 2079 Sometimes it just isn't enough. Irving van der Heide had an outstanding day at The Kennel for the Pawtucket Patriots, ripping three home runs. Nonetheless, the Patriots fell to the Rockford Bulldogs, 9-8. van der Heide had a feast at the plate, pounding everything thrown his way. The 20-year-old shortstop banged out 3 hits in 5 at-bats, scored 3 times and batted in 4 runs. Despite his sensational performance, the Patriots were not able to hold off the Bulldogs. "Baseball is a funny game," van der Heide said in the post-game interview, "You can't dwell on the reasons for the loss. I'm sure there will be days when I go 0-for-4 and we win. These things tend to even out."
