Bang-up Game: Aksoy Slams 3 Homers Monday, July 24th , 2079 Bigger paychecks might be in the offing if George Aksoy continues to hit like he did today against the Reno Mountaineers. The Sudbury Astronauts shortstop crushed three into the stands at Mountaineers Ballpark in a remarkable performance, propelling the Astronauts to a win, 9-2, over the Reno Mountaineers. "If you want to get paid in this league, you've gotta earn it," he said later. "I earned my paycheck today." He tagged 3 hits in 4 at-bats, drove in 5 runs and scored 3 times. "We made three mistakes and he made us pay each time," Reno manager said later. George Aksoy hit a two-run home run off Jose Ruiz in the 2nd, flied out in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Jose Ruiz in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off Ivan Laguna in the 9th. Aksoy is currently batting .275 with 10 home runs and 32 RBIs. |
