Preston Cracks 3 HRs for Tampico
Monday, July 24th , 2079
Some days you can't have it all, as Tampico Bucaneros second baseman Rod Preston discovered when he cracked three homers against the Oceanside Barnstormers, and still lost.
"I have mixed emotions about this game," he said. "It's great to hit three homers, but it's hard to be happy when you lose the game."
The 27-year-old got his name in the league record books, but the Barnstormers walked away with the triumph, 5-4, at Barnstormers Ballpark. Preston finished the day with 3 hits in 5 at-bats and 3 RBIs.
"I got three balls to hit and nailed all three of them," he said in the postgame interview.
Rod Preston hit a solo-shot off Rafael Magallanes in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Rich Bannister in the 5th, grounded out in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off Jim Unknown in the 9th.
This year, Preston is hitting .259 with 4 home runs and 17 RBIs in 51 games played. He also boasts an OBP of .338 with 13 walks and 18 runs scored.
