Hits Galore: Escalante Drills 5 Hits Friday, June 18th , 2083 Some moments become linked with a particular player's career forever. Onel Escalante of the Eagle Mountain Scavengers had one of those moments when he went 5-for-5 at the plate in his team's 18-0 win over the Anchorage Longbows at Scavengers Ballpark. "I won't forget this anytime soon, and I don't expect it to happen too often," the 21-year-old center fielder told reporters in the postgame interview. "I'll be happy to just get a hit or two every day. Enough to hang around the league a while longer. Like 10, maybe 15 more years." Onel Escalante doubled in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, walked in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th, doubled in the 6th and hit a two-run home run off Hiromichi Oya in the 8th. This year, Escalante is hitting .220, produced 36 RBIs and 11 home runs, scored 22 times and gotten on base at a .291 rate. View Boxscore |
