Castillo Tosses 4-0 Shutout
Wednesday, May 24th , 2079
Francisco Castillo of the Edmonton Trappers was on top of his game.
The 26-year-old tantalized the Clyde Hill Cyclones with crisp curves and changeups, mixed in with just enough fastballs to keep the batters honest, shutting them out, 4-0.
"He had the changeup working," Clyde Hill manager said in postgame comments. "You knew it was coming and you still grounded out -- and then he threw it even slower."
The Edmonton hurler had 10 strikeouts, gave up 1 walk and surrendered 1 hit in his complete-game effort.
Castillo told reporters after the game that "keeping the ball down is the key to being successful in this league."
"If you don't do that, they'll make you pay," he said.
So far this season, in no relief appearances Castillo has compiled an ERA of 2.97. He has pitched 60.2 innings, struck out 58, walked 15 and registered no saves.
