Penafiel Chosen August's Best AC Hurler Sunday, September 1st , 2080 Last month's cream of the crop on the mound was Mario Penafiel of the Riverside Spinners. He captured the Alpha Conference Pitcher of the Month award for his outstanding performance in August. Penafiel started 6 games, threw 39.1 innings, yielded 32 hits and logged a 5-0 record. He put down 30 batters on strikes, walked 15 and compiled a 1.37 ERA. Opposing teams batted .219 against him. On his stats sheet for the year Penafiel shows a 11-8 record, 27 starts, 160 innings, 131 strikeouts and a 3.38 ERA. |
