Pelayo Swats 3 HR Against Anchorage Sunday, August 25th , 2080 It was a special day for Rene Pelayo, but less so for the Joliet Blues. Pelayo slammed three home runs against the Anchorage Homesteads, but the Homesteads outhit him and got the win by a score of 12-9. "Lately, I been uppercutting the ball too much. I would hit it hard, but they just went sky high and stayed in the ballpark," he said to sportswriters after the game. "No big long outs for me in this game -- I leveled out my swing and connected on the sweet spot three times. I knew they were gone the minute I hit 'em." The Joliet third baseman finished the day at Blues Stadium with 3 hits in 4 at-bats, 6 RBI and 3 runs scored. Rene Pelayo walked in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Hector Gonzalez in the 4th, hit a GRAND SLAM off Hector Gonzalez in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Jesus Vasquez in the 7th and grounded out in the 9th. So far on the season, Pelayo is hitting .254 with 9 home runs, 25 RBIs and 21 runs scored. He has 33 hits and played in 39 games. |
