Peterson Is King of Swing: Goes Deep 3 Times
Monday, July 25th , 2078
Santa Ana Broncs first baseman Jeff Peterson almost did it all. He sent three shots out of the ballpark, scored 3 times and drove in 4 runs and had 3 hits in 5 at-bats.
The one thing he could not do, however, was lead the Broncs to victory. The San Antonio Texicans escaped with the win, 10-8, despite being on the receiving end of the barrage from Peterson.
"I'd be lying if I said I didn't like hitting three homers, but losing takes a little glitter off the game," he admitted to BNN writers after the game.
Jeff Peterson hit a two-run home run off Ruben Chapa in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Ruben Chapa in the 3rd, struck out in the 4th, struck out in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off Jason Cilenti in the 8th.
"When someone hits three home runs, you put yourself in a tough position to win," said Santa Ana manager . "We were lucky to win this one. I don't think it matters how hard you throw, especially in the Beta Conference. If you leave a ball out over the plate to good RSL Triple A hitters, if they get a bead on you and you leave it over the middle, they're probably going to take a good hack at it."
This season, Peterson has posted a batting average of .260 with 64 hits in 246 at-bats, 16 home runs and 35 RBIs. He has also scored 40 runs, walked 35 times and compiled a .356 OBP.
