Castillo Tosses No-Hitter Against Chula Vista
Tuesday, June 28th , 2078
Jose Castillo relied on excellent pitch selection and pinpoint control to hold Chula Vista hitless in a win, 9-0, at Spinners Ballpark.
"Nobody goes out to pitch a no-hitter," he said later. "We just go out and try to get a win. A 10-9 win is better than a 1-0 loss. My pitching buddies might not be too happy giving up nine runs but a win is a win. The key to it today was I mixed my pitches well. I kept the Ghouls off balance and guessing the whole game."
The 25-year-old starter rung up 9 strikeouts and 1 walk in whipping the Ghouls.
"When a guy is throwing strikes the way he was and is locating well, it is going to be a long day for any club," Chula Vista skipper said.
To date this year, Castillo has won 8 and lost 2 with a 2.55 ERA, 8 saves and 52 strikeouts in 16 relief appearances.
