Pontes 5-for-7 for Spinners Wednesday, July 10th , 2080 Venceslau Pontes was at the head of a Riverside hit parade at Spinners Ballpark. The center fielder went to the plate 7 times and came away with 5 hits, sparking the Spinners to a nice 20-4 victory over the Anchorage Homesteads. "I told the guys in the dugout, just be thinking about hitting the ball hard somewhere," the sweet-swinging Pontes told reporters after the game. "Seems like it worked out well for us today." Homesteads skipper said later that the club gave up "too much plate." "Not the way we planned it," he said. "Every hitter in the league will rip you when you do that." Venceslau Pontes singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, flied out in the 4th, hit a two-run triple in the 5th, singled in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and flied out in the 8th.
