Gaghiardi Rips 3 HR Wednesday, June 24th , 2076 It's a rare event when a player hits three homers in a game and rarer still when he does it and loses. It happened at Rams Ballpark today, as Gerald Gaghiardi of the Hialeah Boomers unloaded three times against the Chesapeake Rams but was still bumped off 11-9 by the Rams. "We were lucky to win today," said Chesapeake skipper . "You can't give up that many home runs and expect to win on a regular basis." For the game, the Hialeah left fielder had 5 hits in 6 at-bats, scored 3 times, and drove in 7. Gaghiardi spoke to the writers in the postgame press room with mixed feelings, saying he was sad to lose but happy to be seeing the ball well. "I was just trying to swing early and often to give myself a chance," he said. "I let the pitcher supply all the power and try to figure out how to get the bat on the ball." Gerald Gaghiardi hit a three-run home run off T.J. Reeves in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off T.J. Reeves in the 3rd, flied out in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Forrest McBean in the 7th, hit a two-run double in the 8th and singled in the 11th. Thus far this year Gaghiardi is hitting .279 with 11 home runs, 50 RBIs and 42 runs scored. |
