Schmidt Brilliant -- Fires No-Hitter Saturday, May 21st , 2078 Is it better to be lucky or good? After leading the Oxnard Tigercats to victory, 9-0, and tossing a no-hitter over the San Bernadino Sun Devils, Steve Schmidt didn't have the answer. "I don't know," Schmidt said. "To do what I did today, I'm pretty sure it takes both." On his big day at Oxnard Fields, Schmidt fanned 10 and had 2 walks. And it seemed that when the Sun Devils managed to hit the ball hard, it went right at a defender. "That's how you get a no-hitter," Schmidt said with a smile. "A lot of skill mixed with a little luck." This year, Schmidt has compiled a 2-3 mark with a 3.91 ERA in 9 starts. View Boxscore |
