Arlington Mallards first baseman Bruce Ferneyhough put on a dazzling display of power at Ballpark of Arlington against the Garland Pigeons. In the 16-0 Mallards victory, Ferneyhough penned his name into the record books, slamming a trio of home runs in one of baseball's finest single-day efforts.
"He can hit them out anywhere, right, center, left, it doesn't matter," Garland manager said. "He's super strong and stays on the ball so well."
Along with his three home runs, the 26-year-old had 3 hits in 5 at-bats, 8 RBIs and 4 runs scored.
"Life will always throw you curves, just keep fouling them off," Ferneyhough said after the game, when asked about his hitting philosophy. "The right pitch will come, and when it does, be prepared to run the bases. Or trot around them, like I did today."
Bruce Ferneyhough hit a GRAND SLAM off Adam James in the 1st, grounded out in the 3rd, grounded out in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Yosbany Cervantes in the 6th and hit a two-run home run off Yosbany Cervantes in the 8th.
