McLean Cracks 5 Hits Sunday, July 11th , 2083 Joliet second baseman Brandon McLean went down swinging at Blues Stadium, knocking out 5 hits even as his Blues fell, 21-10. "It was like I was hitting Little League pitching," McLean said after his 5-for-5 performance against the Riverside Spinners. "No offense meant to Riverside, but it was like I was back in little league again -- I could see the ball that well." After the game, his manager elaborated on the second baseman's improvements, saying McLean spent the offseason trying to shorten his swing and stay inside the ball. "That's what I'm trying to do," McLean agreed. "Be quick to the ball and let it travel a little farther so I get a better look at it." Brandon McLean singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Jerry Cowley in the 6th, singled in the 8th and singled in the 9th.
