Cerda Whacks 3 Out of the Park for Hamilton Friday, July 14th , 2079 Hamilton Argonauts catcher Danny Cerda put on a dazzling display of power at Hialeah Grounds against the Hialeah Boomers. In the 13-4 Argonauts victory, Cerda penned his name into the record books, slamming a trio of home runs in one of baseball's finest single-day efforts. "He can hit them out anywhere, right, center, left, it doesn't matter," Hialeah manager said. "He's super strong and stays on the ball so well." Along with his three home runs, the 28-year-old had 3 hits in 5 at-bats, 6 RBIs and 3 runs scored. "Life will always throw you curves, just keep fouling them off," Cerda said after the game, when asked about his hitting philosophy. "The right pitch will come, and when it does, be prepared to run the bases. Or trot around them, like I did today." Danny Cerda hit a two-run home run off Herb Tumminia in the 2nd, struck out in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Nick Lowe in the 6th, hit a three-run home run off Jim Unknown in the 6th and struck out in the 9th. This season, Cerda has hit at a .407 clip with 10 RBIs, 4 home runs and 8 runs scored. He has played in 15 games. |
