Ekgart Ups Hit Streak to 20 Consecutive Games Wednesday, July 5th , 2079 The Oxnard Tigercats may have proven to be mere mortals as they lost, 9-2, to the Lincoln Traders, but Leo Ekgart continued to hit like a god. The left fielder collected 4 hits in 5 at-bats in the loss and extended his hitting streak to 20 games. "Ekgart is playing great and is on fire right now," Tigercats manager said. "Hopefully his play can spark the rest of our team and help us pick up some wins." Ekgart was apparently not happy with the game and when pressed by reporters in the locker room only said "nothing else matters but the loss." Leo Ekgart doubled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, flied out in the 6th and singled in the 9th. This season, Ekgart has posted a batting average of .360 with 109 hits in 303 at-bats, 1 home run and 25 RBIs. He has also scored 40 runs, walked 33 times and compiled a .430 OBP. |
