Big Day for Woytko: Swats 5 Hits Wednesday, May 31st , 2079 The Chugiak-Eagle River Chinooks downed the Calgary Cannons, 7-4, at Calgary Center, in spite of the best efforts of Calgary second baseman Andy Woytko. Woytko lashed the ball all over the park in a 5-hit explosion, finishing with a 5-for-5 line -- and a loss. "I don't remember a better day batting, but it sure is disappointing to lose the game," he said to BNN reporters in the postgame interview. "A win would have made the day much sweeter." Asked if he would adjust his strategy next time the Chinooks face Woytko, Chugiak-Eagle River manager said "absolutely not." "Our strategy was to not give him good pitches to hit," he said. "We didn't do that, and he worked us over. Thankfully, we won anyway, and next time we'll pitch to him better." Andy Woytko singled in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Mario Gatica in the 4th, doubled in the 6th, singled in the 8th and singled in the 9th. During the current season Woytko is batting at a .262 clip with 3 home runs and 10 RBIs. He has played in 30 games and scored 13 times. View Boxscore |
