Jessie McMenemy Gets Hit Number 2000 Thursday, September 19th , 2080 It was a day of mixed emotions for Boston third baseman Jessie McMenemy, who collected his 2000th hit in the club's 9-5 loss to Santiago. Greens and Avispas fans alike cheered McMenemy as he reached base after his milestone hit. "I wish the score had been different," McMenemy said after the game, "but it was a great moment. The standing ovation was really special... even the fans wearing Avispas caps were cheering me." McMenemy was 1-for-4 on the day.
