Orta Untouchable, Tosses No-Hitter
Tuesday, August 2nd , 2078
The New York Titans relied on no-hit stuff from starter Pavel Orta to defeat the Toronto Juggernauts, 9-0, at Molson Park.
"It's quite a thrill," Orta told the media afterward. "This is a top-notch league. A no-hitter against any team in the league is something special. I can't believe I did it."
To get his name logged in the Eastern Conference records, he stopped Toronto cold and hitless, surrendering 2 walks and fanning 5 of the 29 batters he faced.
New York manager Nate Beckman was in a jovial mode after the game, kidding with reporters that Orta "made managing easy today."
"I didn't have hardly any decisions to make like I usually do," he said. "I didn't even have to come up with a pinch hitter."
So far this year, Orta has made 22 starts, tossed 147.2 innings, struck out 155 batters and walked 37. His record is 13-3 with a 2.68 ERA and he has limited opposing teams to a .206 batting average.
