Red-Hot Lawson Scorches Stars Friday, August 18th , 2079 Matt Lawson was at the head of a Cincinnati Twins hit parade at Cincinnati Grounds. The 23-year-old went to the plate 5 times and came away with 5 hits, but it was the Los Angeles Stars that marched off with the 5-4 win. "We didn't have it today," griped Twins skipper Ryan Stoops following the game. "Matt did fine, but as a team, we didn't do it with the bats and we didn't do it pitching." Lawson did more than fine, dominating the Stars at the plate during his record-making 5-for-5 performance. "Each time I went to the plate, I was thinking about hitting the ball hard somewhere," the sweet-swinging left fielder told reporters. "When I focus on that, I usually have quality at-bats." Matt Lawson singled in the 1st, hit an RBI double in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and doubled in the 9th. So far this season, Lawson has gotten 87 hits in 278 at-bats for a .313 batting average with 9 home runs. His stats include 34 RBIs and 37 runs scored. He has played in 67 games.
