Zaldivar Batters Los Angeles for 5 Hits
Saturday, July 2nd , 2078
5 hits in a game has always been a big milestone in baseball -- 5 hits in a game gets a player's name in the record book, win or lose. Duviel Zaldivar got his name recorded today, but the Los Angeles Stars picked up the win at Stars Ballpark, topping the Kansas City Athletics, 7-5.

"He bushwhacked us," said winning manager Pat Kaers. "We were lucky to come out ahead."

Zaldivar, who finished 2nd in the WC in OPS with 1.031 in 2071, spoke to reporters in the clubhouse following the game, saying his nerves only set in once he was on the cusp of the milestone.

"I got too much adrenaline going when I realized that this could be a once-in-a-lifetime day," the first baseman said. "I think the coaches could tell I was going to be ready to swing at anything close. That's why my third base coach told me to calm down and wait for a good pitch. That got me back on track."

Duviel Zaldivar singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, singled in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Billy Paul in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off Zach Baiza in the 9th.

Thus far this year, Zaldivar has hit .266 with 16 home runs and 45 RBIs.
