Covarrubias Voted June's Top WC Rookie Friday, July 1st , 2078 He might be new to the league, but Arturo Covarrubias of Las Vegas is a player. He proved it this month with a sensational 3-1 won-lost mark and impressive 2.61 ERA. For that strong performance Covarrubias was named the Western Conference Rookie of the Month. In June he started 6 games, tossed 38 innings, yielded 32 base hits, fanned 29 and walked 12. Opposing hitters combined for a .221 average against him. To date this season, Covarrubias has registered 16 starts, 5-6 won-lost mark, 3.92 ERA, 96.1 IP, 71 strikeouts and 25 walks. Opposing teams have hit .255 against him. |
