Hit Parade: Esaki Gets Cycle
Friday, April 8th , 2078
It is rare for players to collect a single, double, triple and home run in one game, so it's a special moment when it happens.
Takeshi Esaki savored such a moment, going 4-for-5 and hitting for the cycle against the Baltimore Kings. Unfortunately for Esaki, that was all he could savor, as his Washington Senators lost the contest by a score of 16-3.
After the game, the right fielder was in no mood to talk about the hitting feat, calling it "pointless trivia."
"Nobody cares if I went 0-for-5 or 1-for-5 or 4-for-5," Esaki said. "16-3. That's the only line anyone around here cares about today."
Takeshi Esaki grounded out in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Dong-u Jee in the 7th and tripled in the 9th.
So far in 2078 Esaki is batting .333 with 2 home runs, 2 RBIs and 5 runs scored. He has 10 hits in 30 at-bats and a .333 OBP.
