Lobster Swap Chermak to Browns for Brooks
Sunday, November 24th , 2080
You can't always get what you want, but sometimes you find a deal anyway. The Baseball News Network is reporting that Maine and Brooklyn have made a swap with 22-year old minor league C Cole Chermak, 22-year old minor league LF Ka-pa Dai, a 2nd round draft pick, and a 3rd round draft pick being shipped to the Browns and in return the Lobster would get 30-year old LHP Slider Brooks.
Maine general manager Matthew McExpos said the two sides were close to a blockbuster trade before agreeing upon a smaller scale transaction.
"This is just a bit of housekeeping compared to what we wanted to do," he said. "I won't name names, but the potential deal we were close to making would have certainly grabbed some headlines."
A source inside the Maine organization said the two sides might not be done dealing, and another transaction could be in the works.
In his career, the 30-year-old Brooks has put up a 2.64 ERA and a 76-48 mark.
