Avispas Lose By a Run at Boston, 7-6
|
The timely hitting of Junpei Fujiwara helped the Boston Greens down the Santiago Avispas, 7-6. Fujiwara hit 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice for the Greens. The winner was Alfredo Manduley in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Joe Drum took the loss. Adam Mimnaugh recorded his 9th save for Boston.
Had Luis Torrecilla not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Torrecilla hit a 2-run single. That made the score 7-6, in favor of the Greens.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," Fujiwara told the Boston Observer. "It's as simple as that."
The win elevated the Greens to 35-30.
