Washington Absorbs 3-2 Loss to St. Louis
|
Bobby Jaramillo pitched well enough to win, but it was not to be. The Washington Senators, despite Jaramillo's fine outing, dropped a 3-2 decision to the St. Louis Gaedels at The ESPN Zone. Albert van Dongen sewed up the save, his 4th. St. Louis bumps their record to 28-38 with the win.
St. Louis used a timely hit from Alex Artiaga to get the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Gaedels ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it made an impact.
"Coulda, shoulda, woulda," said Washington manager Josh Cooan. "We had our chances and didn't cash in."
