The San Diego Destroyers defeated the Denver Glaciers, 4-3, in part because of left fielder Jose Gonzales. Gonzales was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2 for the Destroyers. San Diego reliever Bryant Basile was the winner. His record is now 2-4. The losing pitcher was Mario Lacayo. Oeke Endal earned the save for San Diego, his 1st.

Phil Heisey came through with a big-time hit for San Diego. The third baseman smacked a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 4-3. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"We played hard and won," said Gonzales. "Sometimes, baseball really is that easy.'
