Thunderbirds Suffer 7-4 Loss to Toros
|
The Tucson Toros defeated the Phoenix Thunderbirds, 7-4, at Aetna Stadium. Tucson was led by 24-year old first baseman Juan Carrillo, who went 3 for 3 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The first-place Toros go to 36-28.
Nate Nail had a big run-scoring double for the Toros in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Tucson leading 4-3 and a runner on 2nd, he got a fastball from Savino Dore, who is tied for 8th in the WC in innings pitched with 81.1, and swatted a double to right. It was his 14th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Toros ahead, 5-3.
Nail said, "Whether you hit the ball hard, you walk, you have a long at-bat, 10 or 12 pitches, or you hit a homer, you're just trying to do anything you can do to help the team win."
