Greens Get Close Win Over Browns, 4-3
|
Steve McFarlen was outstanding against Brooklyn. The right-hander, who led the WC in innings pitched with 224.0 in 2074, had a fastball that was virtually unhittable at times. The result was a Greens 4-3 win. Boston reliever Naoto IIda picked up the win, upping his record to 3-0. Willie Bravo absorbed the loss. The Greens now have a record of 22-41.
Marcel van der Lans was the walk-off hero for Boston. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Greens third baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"The house was rockin'," said van der Lans.
