Kodiaks Rally Late to Nip Arrows
|
The Alaska Kodiaks had to overcome a fine effort from Seattle pitcher Honey Geier to win, 5-4, at Tundradome. Geier went 6 innings and allowed 2 runs. Eddie Izurieta earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.2 innings. He upped his record to 4-1. Earning his 4th save for Alaska was Marco Ramirez.
Alaska took a 5-4 lead on Riichi Otomo's 2nd home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which Otomo hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Seattle pitcher Marcos Jurado visibly frustrated.
"I like the grit of this ballclub," Otomo said.
Alaska is now 35-30.
