Santiago pitcher Buddy Verveer had a large part in his team beating the Buffalo Rangers, 4-3. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. The win gives the Avispas a record of 22-42.

The game reached a climactic end in the bottom of the ninth. With Santiago trailing 3-1, Joe Drum delivered the decisive blow, stroking a fastball from Abel Downey for a bases-clearing double. Ballgame.
