Senators Get Clonked by Titans, 9-3
|
The New York Titans defeated the Washington Senators, 9-3, in Eastern Conference action at Polo Grounds II. New York pitcher Luis Erazo had a standout performance. The winning pitcher was Erazo, now 8-2. He tossed 6 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 9. Ricardo Alas nailed down his 14th save.
David Jiron had a big 2-run double for the Titans in the bottom of the first inning. With New York leading 2-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a knuckle curve from 23-year old right-handed pitcher Hawk Hartshorn and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 14th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Titans ahead, 4-0.
"We've got guys willing to do what it takes to win," Jiron told the New York Daily News.
New York now sports a record of 47-17.
