The Minneapolis Vikings had to overcome a big game from Kansas City first baseman Duviel Zaldivar to leave Minneapolis Grounds with a victory. And they did, winning, 5-4. Zaldivar was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The winner was Minneapolis reliever Mario Penafiel, now 3-4. The loser was Justin Samsel. Getting the save was Johnny Wickwire, his 13th.

Midori Morikawa helped out the Minneapolis cause in the bottom of the eighth inning with a solo home run. For the game, the designated hitter went 1-4 with a home run.

"You get some opportunities, you better take advantage of them," said Kansas City manager Joe Monagle.

The third-place Vikings have won 4 straight games.
