Kings Get Past Washington for 4-3 Win
|
The Baltimore Kings did just enough to sneak past the Washington Senators, 4-3, at The ESPN Zone. Baltimore third baseman Reinier Martinez, in particular, had a standout performance. The winner in relief was Barnes Boerma. The right-hander allowed 2 runs on 3 hits in 2 innings. He now owns a record of 2-1. Andy Mejia closed it out for Baltimore, earning his 6th save.
Martinez had a timely hit for Baltimore in the top of the eighth. With Baltimore trailing 3-1, he turned a full count curveball into a 3-run home run. It was his 12th home run of the season, making it 4-3, Baltimore.
"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," Washington manager Josh Cooan said, following the tough loss.
The Kings are now 33-29.
