Aces Stumble, Lose to Friars
|
Las Vegas had no answer for San Francisco Friars hurler Doug Lovelace, who overwhelmed Aces hitters as the Friars coasted to victory, 8-1. Lovelace, now 5-3, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 8, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. The first-place Friars bumped their record to 37-25.
Lyalya Markosiants, who won the Rookie of the Year Award in 2077, took Las Vegas hurler Rafael Salabarria deep in the bottom of the fifth. His 2-run home run put the Friars on top, 2-0. In all, Markosiants had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 3.
"They just got us," said Las Vegas manager Justin Coroian, "and that's all I can say."
