A 6-RBI performance from designated hitter Shigenobu Shimamoto, who led the WC in OPS with 1.048 in 2073, led the Alaska Kodiaks to a win over the Houston Aquas, 8-4. Alaska, now 29-33, holds down last place in the Western Conference John Sexton Division.

The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the ninth. With one out, Shimamoto hit a changeup from Armando Montoya for a grand slam home run. The Kodiaks, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.

Shimamoto described the clubhouse as "kind of rowdy" after the game.
