Titans Lose By a Run at Havana, 4-3
|
Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Havana Metropolitanos and New York Titans.
The Havana Metropolitanos withstood an impressive performance by New York center fielder Jimmy Keener to defeat the Titans, 4-3, at Estadio Latinoamericano. Keener was 3-5 with a home run and a triple. He scored 2 times. Huggy Bruce earned the win for Havana. He lasted 6.2 innings, allowing 3 runs on 10 hits, while striking out 8. With the win, he raised his record to 2-0. Earning his 3rd save of the year was Austin Brick.
Akira Kano dealt the Titans a blow in the bottom of the third. Batting with runners on 2nd and 3rd and Havana trailing 3-2, Kano, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2073 draft, hit a 1-0 fastball for a 2-run single.
New York manager Nate Beckman said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
The win gives the Metropolitanos a record of 4-2.
