Friars Reel-In 10-5 Win Over Angels
|
Antonio Fiss had a hand in San Francisco defeating San Antonio by the score of 10-5. Fiss went 2 for 4 at the plate, scoring 2 times and driving in 4 runs. The winner was Lyalya Markosiants, who threw 107 pitches over 7.2 innings. The right-hander was charged with 5 runs on 11 hits. The second-place Friars now have a win-loss record of 30-31.
San Francisco catcher Tim Valencia contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the seventh. With two down, he hit a fastball to center field for a 2-run single. It was his 22nd hit of the season and put the Friars ahead, 8-5.
"In baseball, you have your ups and downs," said San Antonio manager Brandon Coroian. "You just try to stay level-headed the whole time."
