Phantoms Clip Destroyers in Tight Contest, 3-2
|
Chicago turned a good effort from starter Bryan Walker into a win over the San Diego Destroyers at Seaward Stadium. The Phantoms won the game, 3-2. Chicago reliever Teh-huai Yap snagged the win, upping his record to 3-2. Si-dao Ci shouldered the loss. John Colon notched his 6th save in 7 chances.
Luis Velazquez, who was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2074 draft, had a direct impact on the outcome. Velazquez contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the eighth inning to put Chicago up, 3-2.
"We've got to kick it in gear soon," said San Diego manager Steve Alstadt.
Chicago improves to 37-23 with the win. They lead their division by 2 games.
