Thunderbirds Come Up Short at Kansas City, 4-3
|
The Kansas City Athletics picked up a win at Ballpark of Missouri, downing the Phoenix Thunderbirds, 4-3. On the mound for Kansas City was left-hander Yasniel Ramirez, who played a pivotal role in the win. In 6 innings, Ramirez surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 1 and walking 0. He allowed no runs. The Athletics now have a record of 19-41.
The Athletics got a big at-bat from designated hitter Tim Kemp. For the game, Kemp was 1-4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the first, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 13th home run of the season gave Kansas City a 3-0 lead.
