Athletics Rally Late to Clip Tucson
|
Kansas City picked up a win at Ballpark of Missouri, bumping off the Tucson Toros, 4-3. Pitcher Gerald Tanton was a major reason the Athletics emerged victorious. Kansas City reliever Mark Curry picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Feng Shuai absorbed the loss. Picking up the save was 23-year old right-handed pitcher Chase Kessler.
Brian Lynch chipped in a 2-run single for Kansas City in the bottom of the eighth. For the game, the catcher had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 3 runs batted in.
"Main thing is I want the team to win," Tanton told a reporter after the game. "Just have to go out there, take care of my job, and give my team a chance to win."
Kansas City goes to 5-1.
