Toros Score Late to Nip Kings, 3-2
|
The Tucson Toros had to overcome a fine effort from Baltimore pitcher Shan Shuai to win, 3-2, at AT&T Park. Shuai went 6 innings and allowed no runs. The win belonged to Juan Casanas in relief. His record improves to 1-2. Andy Mejia took the loss for Baltimore. At 25-33, the Toros claim 4th place in the Western Conference Brian Boots Division.
Mario Murillo came through with a big-time hit for Tucson. The designated hitter smacked a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to give his team the lead, 3-2. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"We need better swings, better at-bats," said losing manager Brad Carpenter.
