Tucson Wins at Home to Narrow Series Deficit to 2-1
|
Overcoming a bravura effort from opposing starter Jeong Lee, the Tucson Toros slipped past the New York Titans by the score of 2-1 and got their first win in the 2080 League Championship. Lee threw 7.1 innings of 6-hit ball for the Toros. The win narrows Tucson's deficit to 2-1.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Toros had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the fourth, when designated hitter Vern Berg hit a solo home run. The home run came off Jeong Lee and made the score 2-0, Toros. Berg went 1 for 2 with a home run and a walk.
"Our pitching was the difference tonight," Berg said.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Aetna Stadium in Tucson.
