Almost There: Los Angeles On Cusp of League Championship Triumph After 4-3 Win
Starter Mike Merdinger was sensational for the Los Angeles Stars in his team's 4-3 triumph over the Buffalo Rangers in Game 4 of the League Championship today. Merdinger pitched well, but Los Angeles picked up the win to take a 3-1 lead in the series.

Los Angeles used a timely hit from Willis Aguilar to get the win. The second baseman stroked a 2-run double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Stars ahead, 4-2. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it made an impact.

"Things broke our way today and that's great," Stars manager Pat Kaers said. "It's important, though, to stay focused and not pat yourself on the back too much. We aren't done yet."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Stars Ballpark in Los Angeles.
