Phantoms Prevail, as Conference Championship Goes to the Wire
|
In a series that had a little bit of everything, the Chicago Phantoms have edged the Los Angeles Stars.
The two rival clubs went the distance in the tightly-contested Conference Championship, with a 9-1 win in the clincher being the difference for Chicago and giving them the ticket to the League Championship with a 4-3 series triumph.
"We never stopped believing in ourselves. When push came to shove we were going to get it done," said Hector Abarca, who was named series MVP.
For the series, Abarca hit .407 with a .429 on-base percentage. He had 1 home runs, drove in 4 RBI and scored 5 runs.
The Chicago Phantoms will play against the Miami Cyclones in the next round. Miami won their series against the Montreal Harfangs 4 games to 3. The League Championship schedule will be announced after the Conference Championship finishes.
